From Scratch

August 3 鈥 November 6, 2020

The tradition of working 鈥榝rom scratch鈥 with foundational materials continues to be a critical component of craft today. However, technology, innovation in tools, and the introduction of conceptual framework to craft tradition have adapted how and what craftspeople make. From Scratch focuses on the variety and complexity of technique and intent that exists in our contemporary craft world. A group exhibition of work by SCC members curated by Stephanie Canning & Maia Stark.

Woven Woods: A journey through the Forest Floor

November 15 鈥 January 8, 2021

Woven Woods: A journey through the Forest Floor is a collection of colourful round fabric wall hangings by Ontario artist, Lorraine Roy. Each textile work depicts forest trees connected by their roots. In varying ways, each describes how tree communication is a fundamental part of a thriving ecosystem, where all individual elements contribute to support the whole.

Square Dance

January 16 鈥 March 6, 2021

Square Dance by Cathryn Miller is unified by a common material and the use of the square as a recurring design element; this exhibition explores both the encryption and the transmission of memories and messages. The works are textile-inspired, and paper is transformed through a variety of processes such as cutting, folding, printing, painting, or stitching.
